Our club runs on the strength of our volunteers and our volunteers are truly amazing!
Parents from Junior up will pay $350 and are required to complete 6 hours (minimum) to get their money credited back to them. Families will only pay once, regardless of the amount of skaters in the family registered for sessions. Parents will pay the volunteer fee for the skater at the highest level in the family and are expected to complete the hours that correlate with that level.
***In January, skaters who move from Skating Academy to Junior or new Private skaters to the club will have to pay a volunteer fee of $250 and complete 4 hours of volunteer work to be eligible for a credit back.
**In April, skaters who move from Skating Academy to Junior or new Private skaters to the club will have to pay a volunteer fee of $150 and complete 2 hours of volunteer work to be eligible for a credit back.
**All skaters that register in Private skating for the first time in the summer months July & August, are exempt from volunteer fees until the Fall season begins in September.
All credits for volunteer hours will be done after the end of the Spring skating session in late June or early July.
If your skater is not returning to skating in the Fall and you have completed your volunteer hours, a refund of your volunteer fee may be requested by email to the registrar before the end of the Spring skating term.
There are almost 200 volunteer positions and over 550 hours available. First come, first pick. All volunteer positions are in Uplifter. Sign into account>add volunteer position. These positions can be accessed throughout the skating season.
Each year the club holds a number of events, including an Ice Show in December and banquet in June. In order to keep the cost of these events low for our skaters and their families, we collect a Club Fee of $25 from every skater ONCE during the skating year which is automatically applied to your first invoice in the skating year (September to August). Canskate skaters do not have to pay this fee. We could build this into the regular registration costs, however as a non-profit club we feel it is our responsibility to give you, our skating family, a level of transparency towards how our funds are utilized. We strive to ensure we keep this charge as low as possible in order to reach our goals of creating a fabulous home club for your children.
